Thanks for the feedback. I am by no means an expert on gaming in any way. I just have four sons, and I teach kids, so I know how much gaming is a part of their lives. I think it's important for teachers to recognize the evolution of students, and I hope that we can look to our students' interests to inspire our teaching methods.

Very nice post. I think the idea of gaming is lost on many teachers because they don't understand how a video game could be somewhat educational (not just older teachers, but even new ones). Gaming, as a form of education, needs to be a bigger component within school--but it's going to take some time. It is a level of student engagement that we don't always see.

thanks, I have seen it-my son said everyone was using it in his first year physics classes this year. Maybe free access to education isn't that far off, with people like Mr. Khan willing to share their knowledge for free!

Very interesting and to the point. You are talking of innovations to help the modern child. Are you familiar with www.khanacademy.org/ it is a free website with access to math, science, and english resources and lectures in a fun an innovative way. I believe some teachers are incorporating videos from this website into their curriculum and the Modern child seems to respond positively to them because of the way they just are. Maybe play with it and give it a try? Just a friendly suggestion.
